Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer People

As part of the Red Ribbon Project's ongoing commitment towards equality we have a dedicated post of Queer Community Support Worker (QCSW). This position was created in order to address the invisibility of certain groups within generic sexual health programmes and the rising cases of new HIV diagnosis with men who have sex with men (MSM).

The Red Ribbon Project has provided a range of services for LGBTQ people and these include:
  • Support for LGBTQ individuals and couples
  • Information and education around male to male and/or female to female safer sex practices
  • Counselling - under certain circumstances
  • Referrals to other LGBT support and counseling agencies in the Mid-West region
  • Training for LGBT groups
  • Training for agencies/groups around LGBT issues
  • Training on sexual health issues
  • Access to condoms, lube, glyde dams, gloves and female condoms

If you would like to talk to someone, get more information or arrange training around these issues, please contact the Red Ribbon Project.

We have free copies of the Gay Community News (GCN) available just inside the door.

If you are looking for information purely around sexual orientation, not sexual health, then Rainbow Support Services is the LGBT support project for the MId-Western region of Ireland.
